Hi everybody, today I will be discussing a few ideas for simple, cheap, and manageable experiments for young children using water (Kindergarten, foundation or grade 1) as science experiments do not necessarily need to be expensive, messy, and complicated.
Lets consider two ideas for simple experiments. Firstly, you could fill a bucket with water and allow your child to investigate which objects float or sink. Secondly, you could get them to explore which household liquids dissolve in water and which liquids do not. During science experiments use questions help your children to engage with what they are learning.
If you are using these experiment to introduce children to the idea of a hypothesis it can help to draw images of possible outcomes. Having images that portray different outcomes can help young children to think critically and can support discussion about what makes a good hypothesis. I will add other such simple experiments to this web-page in the near future. I hope that this helps. Have a very good day!
